Case Study

Review of Human Resource Practice in the Private Sector.

Client: Church House Conference Centre

Duration of consultancy services: 2008

Church House Conference Centre (CHCC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Corporation of Church House, the administrative headquarters of the Church of England. It is a company limited by shares and its objective is to covenant operating profits to the Corporation to support its work.

The Conference Centre closed for a 12 month period between 2006-7 for complete refurbishment and the Board of Directors invited Deep Vision to review its Human Resources policies and practices in the light of the re-opening and the recruitment of several new staff members. The objective was to produce a discussion document for the Board.

We focussed on the following key areas:

  • Recruitment and retention
  • Reward structure
  • Performance management and objective setting
  • Training and development
  • Induction
  • Internal communication
  • Management capabilities

We interviewed mangers and departmental staff to create a comprehensive analysis of current HR practice and the way it impacted on the Conference Centre's business objectives. We then transposed our findings into a 20 page discussion document complete with recommendations for further action. The Board endorsed the document.

"We were impressed by the way Deep Vision took an in-depth look at everything without causing disturbance or apprehension to our staff and with the logical and sensitive way in which they pointed out weaknesses and recommended how things could be improved in matters such as selection procedures, performance management, personal development and internal communications."
