Client: A charity providing Training and Employment support.
Duration of consultancy: 2002 - 2006.
The charity was set up in 1997 to support to offer government funded training to targeted markets within inner city ethnic minority communities. Many of the clientele were migrants - young people who had been excluded from school. The organisation was growing and its existing planning and business processes were inadequate for the charity's needs. Linda was introduced to the charity at that point in 2002.
Linda worked with the Director to achieve the following:
Business Planning
By benchmarking the company against similar training organisations Linda helped the CEO and her management team understand the need for the business to reduce staff numbers and to identify new financial targets - for example, the need to introduce sound working capital protocols.
Linda ran Business Planning seminars for the CEO and the senior managers which enabled them to take control of planning and making long term business decisions.
Human Resource Management Planning
Linda coached the CEO in managing change and developing a succession strategy. The aim of this was to get the senior management team to think long term about the direction of the charity.
Coaching Senior Managers in reviewing and developing staff development and human resource management policies and procedures.
Measurable performance results:
- Introduction of financial management processes - monitoring and managing working capital, introducing budgeting and management of budgets.
- Financial Manager was recruited to manage the finance side of the charity.
- Investors in People was achieved as a result of the implementation of business planning and human resource management planning.
